Prospector Light
Prospector Light is a free volume calculator to screen / rank Exploration Prospects.
The calculator consists of three separate and independent modules:
Deterministic Volume Calculator: it uses the area-depth method to calculate the Gross-Rock Volume and the Recoverable Exploration Volumes.
Pseudo Probabilistic Volume Calculator: this uses the calculated deterministic volumes and converts them into pseudo-Probabilistic Volumes using an estimate of the output-uncertainty.
Deterministic Risk-Merge Objectives Calculator: this can be used to merge multiple objectives (with their own chance factor and volume) into a combined Merged Risk and Volume.
Deterministic Volumes
The required inputs for the volume calculations are:
Area-depth data
Hydrocarbon contact(s)
Reservoir Properties
Hydrocarbon Properties
Recovery factor(s)
Pseudo-Probabilistic Volumes
Pseudo-Probabilistic Volumes can be calculated by using an estimate of the uncertainty (P10/P90 ratio) of the Probabilistic volumes (the calculation uses proxies to estimate the P10 P50 and P90 of Probabilistic volumes and have an uncertainty of about +/- 10%). The evaluations from Prospector can be pasted into the Hydrocarbon Resource Calculator (and vice versa), to carry out a more Comprehensive Probabilistic Analysis.
Deterministic Risk-Merge Objectives Calculator
The required inputs for the risk-merge calculation of a number of different Exploration Objectives are:
Objective Probability of Success
Objective Mean Volume
Risk dependency between the Objectives
The calculator will calculate the Probability of Success and Mean Volume of the Merged Objectives The evaluations from Prospector can be pasted into the Resource Clustering Tool (and vice versa), to carry out a Comprehensive Analysis of the Risk-Dependency and a Probabilistic Risk-Merge Analysis.
User Interface
The User Interface of Prospector consists of two parts:
The Prospector Light Form, which gives access to all the utilities that for the volume Calculation
The Save&Share Panel, which is used to manage a database (to save and load evaluations) and to share the evaluations with others using a copy / paste method.
